Why we're not just another no-code platform
How MySheetAPI is different from Bubble, Glide, Softr, v0, Lovable — and where they're better than us.
Why we're not just another no-code platform
"How is this different from Bubble?" or "v0?" is the first question on every demo call. Here's the honest answer.
The map
Visual app builders fall into two buckets right now:
Bucket 1: traditional no-code. Bubble, Glide, Softr, Webflow. You drag, you drop, you configure. Power, depth, and a brutal learning curve. Bubble in particular is closer to a programming environment in a browser than a "no-code" tool.
Bucket 2: AI app builders. v0, Lovable, Bolt, Cursor Composer. You describe what you want, the AI generates. Speed, simplicity, beautiful UIs. Limited data integration.
We're in a third bucket. Call it sheets-native AI builder. Speed of bucket 2, with the one thing both buckets are missing: your real data, attached from minute zero.
What we do better
Your data is in your Google Drive. Always. Bubble has its own database. Glide has its own database. v0 has no database at all (it spins up a Postgres if you ask, but you're managing it). MySheetAPI uses the Google Sheet you already own. Edit it in Google Sheets — your app sees the change instantly. Delete your account — your sheet stays in your Drive. Zero lock-in by design.
REST API ships free. Every Bubble app eventually needs a developer to integrate with something else (Zapier, the warehouse system, a custom script). That's a $200/month "API connector" plugin in Bubble. With us, every project is a REST API by default — filter, sort, aggregate, batch write, MongoDB-style queries.
90 seconds, not 90 minutes. Bubble's "hello world" takes a weekend. Glide's first usable app takes an afternoon. We do "described to live URL" in 90 seconds. Yes, our apps are simpler. But "simple and shipped" beats "complex and unfinished" for 90% of small-business work.
Honest pricing. $0 to start with one app forever. $19/mo for five apps. We don't have a per-row pricing model. We don't have "talk to sales for any real volume."
What they do better
I'm going to be honest because it's a small market and you'll find out anyway.
Bubble is unmatched for complex multi-screen, multi-role, multi-database apps with custom business logic. If you're building a marketplace or a CRM-with-100-screens, Bubble will outlast us by years. We're not even trying to compete.
Glide has the best mobile-first experience in the category. If your app needs to look beautiful on a phone screen and you're willing to migrate off your spreadsheet, Glide is worth it.
Softr turns Airtable into a portal site with no code. If you already use Airtable, Softr is a better choice than us. We don't currently support Airtable as a backend.
v0 / Lovable / Bolt generate prettier UIs than we do. They run a longer prompt budget, they have human designers tuning their system prompts, and they're shipping new frontend frameworks. If you want a marketing site or a beautiful demo, use them. If you want a working tool backed by your spreadsheet, use us.
Bubble Logic. If you need a workflow that says "when a row is added, send an email AND update a CRM AND wait 24 hours AND do X" — you need Bubble or Zapier. We don't have workflows.
Where the line is
A good rule of thumb:
- Your "app" is mostly CRUD around a spreadsheet → us.
- Your "app" has 5+ screens, 3+ user roles, and real business logic → Bubble.
- You want a beautiful mobile portal on top of Airtable → Softr or Glide.
- You want a beautiful marketing site or a one-off demo → v0.
- You want a real engineering team's tool with code you own → write it yourself or hire someone.
The unfair advantage
Here's why I'm not worried about competing with v0 or Bubble.
Bubble has a 14-year head start on workflow complexity. We will never catch them. We're not trying.
v0 has a hundred engineers on UI quality. We will never out-design them. We're not trying.
What we have that neither of them have is the spreadsheet you already own. Every small business has one. Every Google Sheets user is a potential customer. The sheets→app transition is the highest-volume, lowest-friction migration path in the AI builder space, and it's ours.
We're going to be the default choice for everyone who looks at the master spreadsheet that runs their business and thinks "this should have been an app three years ago."
Try it. 90 seconds. Free. If it's not the right tool for your problem, I'll tell you which of the above to try instead.
